Why I Built TradingStreak
A professional trading journal born from real trading needs, built from the ground up for the community.
Taking Trading Seriously
I didn't start out as a professional trader. In fact, I built TradingStreak exactly because I wanted to finally take trading seriously. I needed a tool that forced me to treat trading like a real profession, starting with an honest answer to two simple questions:
“Am I actually profitable? And if not... do I even have a chance to become profitable?”
To get there, I knew I had to keep a trading journal. Every book, every course, every successful trader preaches the same thing: recap your trades. Understand what you did right, what you did wrong, and learn from it.
I needed a place to track my daily trading journey. Not just the numbers, but the story behind them. The psychology, the decisions, the lessons. A place to be honest with myself about my trading.
Overwhelming data, hard to read, easy to make mistakes.
Tuesday Recap
Clean, focused, actionable recaps.
The Problem With Existing Journals
So I looked at what was out there. And I found two types of trading journals:
💸 Expensive Subscriptions
Monthly costs that eat up small trading accounts before they even reach profitability.
🔧 Over-Engineered
Features nobody asked for. Complexity that gets in the way of the actual work.
Here's the truth most trading journal companies don't want you to hear:
You don't need to track every single tick. You don't need a hundred different trailing metrics. You just need to do the basic homework:
- PnL tracking (enter the realized result yourself or use a supported broker import to create it faster)
- Extract key takeaways and mistakes from your trading days
- Build the unshakeable habit of daily recaps
That's why TradingStreak employs a fair profit share model: You only pay when you actually make money. Simple, focused, and aligned with your success.
From a Trading Challenge to a Community
When I started building TradingStreak, a major catalyst was a simple idea for a gamified trading challenge with friends. The rules were simple: We all start with €1,000, and let's see who makes the most out of it and wins.
But what began as a fun leaderboard and pure gamification quickly reinforced the need for a proper journal. To actually win the challenge, we needed to know exactly whywe were winning or losing. This shared experience accelerated TradingStreak's growth into a professional journal tool dedicated to helping traders become consistent winners.
Trading is lonely. Accountability changes everything.
We realized that sharing our trades, discussing setups, and holding each other accountable was the missing piece to achieving profitability.
Today, TradingStreak is a serious, focused tool, but we never lost that original DNA. We still proudly feature Challenges, Groups, and Friends functionalities integrated directly into the platform.
The Golden Rule: Focus on the Realized Truth
Floating / Unrealized PnL
The numbers dancing on your screen. It feeds your ego or your fear, but it isn't real money yet.
Realized PnL
The cold, hard truth. Whether you're a swing trader or daytrader, this is the only number that hits your account balance.
No unbooked fantasies. Just what you realized.
Journaling for Radical Honesty
Throughout this shared journey, we refined a core philosophy: A good journal shouldn't just be a database, it should force you to be radically honest with yourself.
That’s why TradingStreak deliberately abstracts away the noise. We don’t force you to track every single micro-trade, entry timing, or floating position. Whether you are a fast-paced daytrader completely flattening your book, or a patient swing trader holding positions over weeks—the most important metric at the end of the day is what you actually realized on closed positions.
“We don't care about unrealized dreams. We capture the Realized PnL per broker at the end of the day. That's the only truth.”
By focusing solely on realized outcomes, TradingStreak adapts to any trading style while forcing you to look at your performance objectively. You review your booked PnL, reflect on the psychological context, mark your actual mistakes, and get ready for the next day with clearly defined guardrails.
That is also how we think about broker imports. We do not want to turn your journal into a passive trade dump. Imports should remove the friction of creating PnL entries for supported brokers, while you still do the important work: reviewing what you did, why you did it, and what you will change next time.
We stripped the interface down intentionally so you don't complicate things. We remove the noise, so you can focus entirely on the facts.
Built by a Trader, for Traders
TradingStreak isn't backed by VCs or guided by corporate managers who have never placed a trade. I built it to scratch my own itch, shaped directly by the feedback of real, everyday traders.

Stop tracking meaningless metrics and start focusing on your realized progress. Join a transparent platform that only succeeds when you do.
